Radical Disciples: Chapter 14 teaches us there are six characteristics that determine a radical disciple. Radical disciples: 1) use their God-given gifts; 2) do ministry together; 3) face opposition boldly; 4) demonstrate genuine humility; 5) invest in others; and 6) are committed to the Church. How do rate as a radical disciple?
Grace Alone: Chapter 15 asks the question, “What does it take to be saved?” In other words, what work must we do to come to faith in Jesus Christ? The answer is, there is not a single work we can do to bring to be saved. Salvation is by Christ, and Christ alone. His gift of salvation is the greatest act of grace the world has ever known.
Proclaiming the Truth About God: Chapters 16 & 17 of Acts point to Paul’s incredible sense of worship and declaration of the truth of Christ. When in prison, he and his ministry partner Silas praised God despite their chains. Once free, the traveled to Athens where Paul made this great proclamation: “For in [God] we live and move and have our being.” Do you feel God’s presence in your life?
Don’t Be Afraid, I am with you: We all have those moments when we say, “Lord, it just isn’t working.” But, according to Acts 18, God has a four-fold message for you. 1. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. 2. I will always be with you and never forsake you. 3. Don’t be silent; keep on sharing your testimony. 4. I have appointed people to meet you needs. The meaning is clear: Christian, never give up hope!
Seeing What God Can Do: When and how do we see God’s power manifested in us? According to Acts 19, we first see God’s power work through us in our brokenness and weakness. Second, God’s power is derived through the person of Jesus Christ working through us. And third, we see God’s power work in a relationship with Christ. May God empty us so that He can fill us with Jesus.
You Are Not Your Own: Is there ever a time when your faith will “cost” you too much? At what point will you compromise? Though the world may sell out, this is never an option for the Christian. According to part 2 of Acts 19, you are NOT for sale. Jesus purchased you for a price — His precious blood — and we belong to Him. With this in mind, never be afraid to live for Christ every moment.
Message by Pastor David Uth When going through adversity, don’t take matters into your own hands. Jesus is the one who fights for us. It was a lesson Peter learned the hard way; let’s NOT follow in Peter’s footsteps!
Leaving a Legacy: Did you know you can determine how you will live and finish your life? It’s called leaving a legacy, and in Acts 20:17-24, the Apostle Paul shows us how to do it. 1. Get over yourself — it’s all about others. 2. The finish line — live everyday like it’s your last. 3. Purpose — your purpose is to glorify God no matter what your calling in life is. 4. Perseverance — leaving a legacy is hard and takes work. May God help you to leave the very best legacy possible.
Leaving a Legacy, Part 2: There are four important components to leaving a legacy. 1. Be faithful. Don’t let anything that God has called you to do to go undone. 2. Guard your heart. Pay attention to yourself that you not be led astray by false teaching. 3. Commend others to Christ. Love them, teach them, but let the Lord do His work in them. 4. Be givers. Don’t expect to be taken care of, but always look to take care of others.
What Is God Saying To You? Doing the will of God is the most important thing you can do in your life. Here are three keys to remember: 1. You must do God’s will no matter what — even if it hurts. 2. You are the only one who knows God’s will for you — don’t let anyone talk you out of it. 3. The greatest thing you can do for someone else is to encourage him or her to do God’s will.
